When we care for our plants, we often focus on sunlight and watering. But over the years of growing and mixing soil here at Cebu Happy Growers, we’ve learned one thing — healthy plants always start from the ground up. Literally!
Soil is more than just dirt. It’s the home and foundation of your plants — where they get their air, nutrients, and strength to grow. The right mix can make all the difference, especially in Cebu’s warm and humid weather.
That’s why we created our very own line of premium potting mixes, each one carefully blended to match what different plants need most. Whether you’re growing herbs for your kitchen, caring for your monstera indoors, or starting tiny seeds, there’s a perfect CHG mix for you.

Why the Right Soil Mix Matters
Each plant is unique. Some love moisture, while others want their roots to stay dry. The wrong soil can make your plant struggle — roots can rot, growth slows, or leaves turn yellow.
We’ve seen this happen often, especially when using plain garden soil in pots. It compacts too tightly, suffocates roots, and doesn’t drain well. That’s why we started formulating our own mixes — so every plant can grow in a soil that feels just right.
Our Potting Mixes & Their Best Uses
Here’s how you can choose the best CHG mix for your garden:

5-in-1 ORGANIC Potting Mix
Best for: Vegetables, herbs, seedlings, and all-purpose use
This is our go-to, all-around mix — simple, organic, and nutrient-rich. It retains moisture while staying breathable, perfect for Cebu’s climate. We recommend this for your kitchen garden or any beginner-friendly setup.

5-in-1 SOILLESS Potting Mix
Best for: Most indoor & outdoor plants
This mix feels light and fluffy to the touch. It gives roots enough air while preventing compaction. Perfect for potted plants that prefer well-draining soil — like snake plants, pothos, and philodendrons.

6-in-1 SOILLESS Potting Mix with Pumice
Best for: Bonsai, cacti, succulents, adeniums, and ornamentals
This one’s a favorite among our bonsai and succulent customers. The added pumice keeps the soil airy and helps excess water drain quickly. Great for Cebu’s humidity, where succulents often rot from trapped moisture.

7-in-1 CHUNKY Potting Mix
Best for: Orchids & aroids
If you’re caring for plants like monstera, philodendron, or orchids — this is your best match. Its chunky texture mimics how these plants grow in nature (on trees, not compact soil). It’s also long-lasting and easy to reuse.

CHUNKY Mix (No Barks)
Best for: Orchids & aroids (alternative option)
Some of our customers prefer a cleaner blend with less bark — so we made one! It still offers excellent airflow and drainage, just with a lighter texture.

4-in-1 SEED GERMINATION Mix
Best for: Seed starting & plant propagation
Starting seeds? This fine-textured mix helps seedlings and cuttings develop strong roots. It’s light, clean, and moisture-balanced — everything you need for successful propagation.

Our Tips for Cebu Plant Parents
Refresh your soil yearly. Even the best soil loses nutrients over time. Revive with vermicast or coco peat every 12–18 months.
Don’t reuse soil without reviving it. Old soil can carry pests or lose its structure. If you must reuse, add coco peat or compost to bring it back to life. Sterilize/dry and enrich with conditioners.
Avoid heavy garden soil in pots. It tends to get compact and suffocate roots — that’s why our potting mixes are formulated lighter for Cebu’s humid air.
Observe your plants. If they look dull, droopy, or overwatered, it’s often a soil problem — not just watering or sunlight.
